Current Builders Selects JDL Technologies to Manage Their Information Technology, Implement Disaster Recovery, Harden Network Security, Deploy Wireless Networks and Update IT Infrastructure

Fort Lauderdale, Fla., July 23, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Current Builders has delivered high-quality construction projects on time, on budget, and beyond expectations since 1972, earning the firm an outstanding reputation in the construction industry. In early 2013, the company became concerned that their information technology infrastructure might not be adequate to handle increased pressures due to additional growth and project load.

Current Builders wanted to ensure their ability to recover data in the event of a business interruption, and desired data center redundancy as a safeguard against the hurricanes, flooding and wind damage that can affect South Florida, where the firm is headquartered.

As a leader in a highly competitive industry, Current Builders was also concerned about security, and wanted to be sure that their network traffic and communications were protected.

Current Builders chief operations officer, Charlene Faber and Senior Project Manager, Scott Remer, began researching alternatives with an eye toward upgrading from an external IT resource to a full-time permanent information technology manager. Their research also led to the discovery of JDL TechWatch Managed IT Services.

When Faber and Remer learned the full service capabilities of the JDL TechWatch program, they realized that it would deliver far greater value for their IT investment. For Current Builders, the primary benefits of JDL TechWatch are 24/7 network and infrastructure management and user help desk services, which require the support of an expert team.

JDL Technologies was also able to address Current Builders’ continuity and security concerns by implementing a redundant data center, robust disaster recovery plan and storage area network, and by hardening network security with encryption and other measures.

“As JDL continues to update the IT infrastructure, we’re also optimizing the virtualized Citrix environment, and building wireless networks at the construction job sites,” said Scott Fluegge, vice president and general manager for JDL Technologies. “Robust partnerships with Aerohive, Citrix, Dell and EMC have enabled us to deliver IT solutions that make the greatest sense for Current Builders.”

According to Charlene Faber, JDL Technologies has quickly become the company’s IT department and virtual CIO.

“The JDL TechWatch program is a huge asset for us, and we’re also delighted with JDL’s progress in upgrading our infrastructure,” said Faber. “With an expert team now managing our information technology, I’ve been able to return my focus to our revenue-producing construction operations.”

Current Builders is headquartered in Pompano Beach, Fla., and conducts projects throughout the South and Southeastern United States. The company has won numerous awards and many of its projects are Silver, Gold and Platinum LEEDS-certified.
